Agadir - HM King Mohammed VI inaugurated, on Tuesday in Agadir, a mixed centre for vocational training, and a centre to promote women's competence, built by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity for a total cost of 12 million dirhams (over $1.3 million)

    With a capacity of 348 seats, the vocational training centre aims to facilitate the training and integration of the young disabled and unemployed young graduates into the job market by offering mixed training courses suitable for the disabled, which helps integrate them into the training system.

    The training, which is expected to develop the skills needed by the local labour market, focuses on the services sector, including software development, business management, computer graphics, the secretariat office, sales techniques, repairing of electrical domestic appliances and jewelry.

    The centre is part of  a general programme to build 10 similar centres across Morocco, six of which are already operational in Casablanca, Settat, Tangier, Chefchaoun, Oujda and Rabat and two others are under way in Fes and Marrakech.

    Spanning over an area of 900 square meters, the 7.6 million dirham facility includes  notably two different areas of professional training workshops, two classrooms, a reading room, a multipurpose hall, an infirmary and an office.

    The centre to promote women’s competence is meant to support disadvantageous women seeking employment, notably in the field of house service, through helping them to get access to stable resources.

    It aims to establish a shelter, training and mentoring facility for women in order to give them access to revenue generating activities.

    The new facility will offer training in culinary art, baking, laundry, home maintenance, assistance to people, hygiene and services’ marketing.

    The centre also aims to promote the setting up of women's cooperatives to provide organized services in the field of family related jobs.

    Built on 700 square meters, the 4.4 million dirhams centre comprises many facilities including a pedagogical area, a training kitchen, a retail space, public spaces services (laundry and linen), a medical office and counseling center.
