Rabat- Prime Minister, Abbas El Fassi, received, Monday, the visiting President of the French Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL), Alex Turc, with whom he discussed means to boost bilateral cooperation in the field of protecting personal data

Turc's visit falls within cooperation prospects between the French data protection authority and the national monitoring commission on the protection of natural persons' personal data (CNDP) that will be set up soon, Minister of Industry, Trade and New Technologies, Ahmed Réda Chami told the press.

Chami, who attended the meeting, said, the law on the protection of natural persons with regard to processing personal data is very important, as it both protects the Moroccan citizen against the commercial use of their personal information, and allows the Moroccan legislation in the field to be in accordance with the European one.

In this respect, Chami said a Seminar will be held in Rabat to examine and explain the law 09-08 relating to the protection of natural persons with regard to processing personal data.

For his part, Turc underscored that Morocco has the required means to protect personal data and said: "the CNIL is ready to offer its expertise in the field to the North African Kingdom."
